We’re excited to officially introduce Greg and welcome him to the STRIDE team!

Greg is currently a CrossFit trainer apprentice with us and is set to be a full- fledged trainer after he completes his course work and exams next month. He brings with him years of lifting and CrossFit experience…but it wasn’t always the case of health and fitness for Greg…here’s his story as he tells it:

“I used to be a heavy smoker and drinker. I always wanted to be in better shape, but I never seemed to stick to a program more than a week or two at at time. My wake up call came in my late 20s when I was jumping on a trampoline with my daughter, Daylin. I thought I was going to die after 10 minutes – I couldn’t breathe. It was right then and there I decided to quit smoking for good. But, I replaced one bad habit with another and started eating A LOT! I got up to 260lbs. I knew I was still really unhealthy. So, I bought a treadmill and started running. I lost 40lbs doing that….but it got boring. I started searching the internet for other things to do and found the big 3: bench, deadlift, squat. I worked away with these and lost an additional 20lbs. I wanted to get stronger. I kept searching and found CrossFit and weightlifting and started doing these in my basement – I’ve been hooked ever since! When STRIDE opened and became a CrossFit affiliate, I joined right away and haven’t looked back. My goal now is to help other people on their journey toward better health. I want to help people lose weight, put on some muscle, and gain confidence.”

While Greg admits most of his interests and hobbies include working out (Spartan Races and CrossFit competitions on the weekends, much?), he’s also developed a serious love of history podcasts…which he might make you listen to if you happen to come to open gym when he’s working out…consider yourself warned!

A. I hate public speaking. It’s getting better, but sometimes I get all tongue-tied and my brain shuts off
