What sort of dysfunctions of the pelvic floor do we treat?

  • urinary incontinence in both men & women
  • pelvic organ prolapse including: rectocele, urethrocele, cystocele, enerocele, uterine prolapse, and vault prolapse
  • inability to accomodate penetration (vaginismus)
  • vulvodynia/vestibulodynia
  • painful bladder syndrome & interstitial cystitis
  • chronic non-bacterial prostatitis
  • pain associated with endometriosis
  • adhesions of abdominal and/or pelvic connective tissue
  • rectus diastasis

What should you expect during an assessment of this nature?

  • a complete history of your present complaints
  • a complete physical examination including internal evaluation of the pelvic floor (performed vaginally and/or rectally)
  • a thorough discussion of the anatomy and function of this region and your specific physical findings
  • a thorough discussion regarding the plan to move you forward toward better function
  • home exercises to get you started
  • your modesty maintained and your ongoing consent always

What should you expect during a follow up session of this nature?

  • ongoing discussion, education, and exercise as appropriate
  • assessment and manual therapy of associated regions that may be involved (ie: low back, sacroiliac joints, hip muscles, etc)
  • internal palpation and manual therapy of the pelvic floor as required
  • possible electrical stimulation and/or intravaginal resistance as required based on findings
  • your modesty maintained and your ongoing consent always
