Ask A Physio: How do I go about becoming a physio?

Physical therapy is currently a university masters level program. This means, you must complete a four year bachelor’s degree prior to applying to the Physical Therapy program. This can be any type of degree as long as it includes some specific prerequisites.

A short list of 100 candidates are chosen based on marks to complete a personal statement and computer based assessment of personal characteristics and judgement. From this, 40 candidates are chosen to enter the Physical Therapy program in Saskatchewan each year.

The Masters program itself is considered an intensive program (meaning no summer break) for two years and six weeks. The program is a combination of school based learning and in-clinic practicums. STRIDE activity participates in this program by regularly hosting physical therapy students who are working at completing the masters program.

When you’ve successfully completed, you will have a Masters in Physical Therapy (MPT) – time to celebrate!

Team STRIDE is always looking for motivated, empathetic therapists to join our crew, so shoot us a line. We’d love to discuss your employment options.
